Dr. Virginia W.Kamau has lived in Howard County for the past 9 years but a resident of Maryland for over 20years. Currently board certified in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) for over 3 years. Experience ranges from child and adult care in an outpatient clinic addressing mental health crisis stabilization and substance abuse treatment. Dr. Kamau received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Shenandoah University in Virginia and started working as a Unit manager in a skilled nursing facility. Later worked as an assistant director of nursing. Received Masters in nursing and became a nurse practitioner. Worked in the role of medical director at greater Baltimore behavioral Health services. In May 2024 received her Doctorate in Nursing practice from Walden University. Focus area of practice include but not limited to the following:
ADD/ADHD Depression Anxiety disorders
PTSD Bipolar disorder Eating disorders
Psychotic disorders
Substance abuse and chronic mental illness
Dr. Kamau strongly believes in having an individualized plan of care with the client at the center. Dr.Kamau will provide medication management, psychiatric assessment, and individual psychotherapy for adults of all ages (18 years and above). Dr. Kamau practices in Harmony health wellness center which is a stigma free environment.
